Precision Wellness Massage
YouTime‘s most popular treatment is the 90 minute Precision Wellness Massage. Based on the foundational Classic Massage aka Swedish massage born of the 1800’s.
Originally comprised by Johann Georg Mezger, Classic massage is of western medical design and uses French terms to describe the different strokes.
Mezger was the most sought after doctor to Europe’s Royal and Noble Classes because he was able to help his patients where others, using medicine alone had failed.
To this day, classic massage is still arguably the most effective for a self care routine due to its positive effects on the nervous system and the relaxation of tight muscles.
Classic massage is chosen by many as the best massage style for relaxing the entire body and especially for calming the mind. It is as much a preventative treatment for optimal health, to help you stay balanced and calm. It’s very helpful for relieving general aches, pains and anxiety.
In addition to its many physiological and psychological benefits as described in the list below. It just plain feels great to have a skilled professional give you proper massage!
The Small Significant Difference
When I’m performing a massage and identify a particular type of tension or if you have opted to spend more time on a particular area such as the neck for example. Then I will use a more precise and meticulous technique that is more suited to help relax that area further and in such a way to keep within the relaxing flow of the Classic style.
For example, the more relaxing techniques from Ayurvedic, Tui Na or some expression of the Reflexology system may be used. Note that this is only an option for you, with many clients enjoying just the classic style upon request.
Precision Wellness Massage (Classic Massage) has a confident but light pressure to start, then goes much firmer and then light once again. It should always feel relaxing and comfortable.
No elbows, knuckles or fist style strokes are used in a Classic Massage as they are more suited to a ‘Deep Tissue Massage’ and are not as relaxing as the Classic style strokes.
Some therapists may use knuckles and elbows because it is less physically demanding for the therapists hands, wrists and fingers. Even though this is not an inherently bad technique choice, it is not of a true Classic massage. If you want a deeper/harder massage please see Sports and Fitness Massage here.
Time Matters
All Precision Wellness Massages are at least 90 minutes long with options of up to 2 hours or even 3 hours in duration. I feel that anything less than 90 minutes is too rushed when performing a full-body Classic massage aimed to relax and calm the body and mind properly.
This amount of time is to allow for an un-rushed and very relaxed pace for you with a good amount time spent on each area of the body. This is truly a full body approach to massage that promotes the holistic wellness that I encourage in all my health practices.
Give yourself the appropriate amount of time for a relaxing massage, the time that you deserve and that your body needs.

You can’t hack relaxation, there’s no quick fix and it’s not a chore to get over and done with as fast as possible. It requires and indeed must take time.

Classic Massage
This is the most widely recognized style of massage. The Classic massage techniques vary from light to firm and usually uses five styles of strokes. The five basic strokes are:
(1) Effleurage (sliding or gliding).
(2) Petrissage (kneading).
(3) Tapotement (rhythmic tapping).
(4) Friction (cross fiber or with the fibers)
(5) Vibration (shaking).
Precision Wellness Massage
I use the slower, more flowing and relaxing strokes of sliding, kneading and cross fiber friction strokes using natural almond oil infused with lavender. However, I avoid the tapotement and vibration, or karate chop and drumming styles unless requested.
Staying within the original techniques of Classic Massage for 90% to 100% of your massage and avoiding fancy new additions that have become common over the last several years. At YouTime I’m keeping the classic massage as close as possible to the originally intended treatment of its founder.
The quality of relaxation that Classic Massage delivers is the foundation for further relief of tension in more specific areas too. When the body and mind are fully relaxed, problem areas are much more responsive to relax and let go as well.
Which Body Parts are Massaged?
Precision Wellness massage is a ‘full-body massage’ and includes the following areas:
- Arms and Forearms
- Legs and Thighs
- Hands and Feet
- Head and Face
- Neck
- Shoulders
- Upper, Mid and Lower Back
- Abdomen
- Glutes
- The whole chest if you identify as male and the upper chest area, above the breast if identify as female.
Remember that before your massage I will consult with you on any areas you may wish to avoid for any reason and an area that you may want a little more time and focus on.
Here is a great blog post What to Expect at your First Massage explaining all about how to prepare for a treatment and what to expect at any reputable massage spa or clinic.
What Should I Wear?
This is one of the most googled questions related to massage, especially Classic/Swedish and full-body massages.
Here is a blog post all about this subject; What do I Wear to a Full-Body Massage?
Basically, less is better as long as you feel comfortable with it. But it really is up to you as an individual, what and how much you wear is your choice.
After all, as with any massage clinic YouTime and I want you to feel amazing and I want you to come back again and again. And that starts with you being able to:
Relax
Feel Safe
Feel Comfortable
You are always in control!
Benefits of Classic Wellness Massage
- Abstract from the National Library of Medicine, PubMed: ‘Massage therapy is older than recorded time, and ‘rubbing’ was the primary form of medicine until the pharmaceutical revolution of the 1940s. Popularized again as part of the alternative medicine movement, massage therapy has recently received empirical support for facilitating growth, reducing pain, increasing alertness, diminishing depression, and enhancing immune function.’
- Reduced stress and anxiety Classic massage can help reduce stress and anxiety by releasing endorphins, which have mood-boosting effects in turn helping to improve your mood and sleep quality.
- Relieved pain. Classic massage can help to relieve muscle pain and other types of pain by calming the nervous system, increasing circulation and reducing inflammation.
- Improved circulation. Classic massage can help to improve circulation by increasing blood flow to the muscles and other tissues. This can help to reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle soreness.
- Improved range of motion. Classic massage can help to improve your range of motion and flexibility by stretching the muscles and connective tissues. This can help to reduce pain and improve your overall mobility.
- Increased physical and mental energy levels. Classic massage can help to increase your energy levels by reducing stress and anxiety and improving circulation.
- Boosted immune system. Classic massage can help to boost your immune system by increasing white blood cell count and reducing inflammation. This can help you fight off infection and stay healthy.

Ready to Book Your Wellness Massage?
I Want a Deeper More Focused Massage!
Everybody would benefit greatly from YouTime’s Precision Wellness Massage, however if a deeper, more concentrated massage is what you’re looking for, you may find our Signature BodyWork Massages more to your taste.
You can read about Signature BodyWork here. These treatments all start with a relaxing Classic style stage like what you’re reading about here. Before going into a deeper more focused style.
The Classic Massage initially starts to calm the nervous system to promote full body relaxation. Only then will I use a verity of massage techniques from several disciplines and possibly some massage tools to enable some fantastic results.
Signature massages are not as relaxing as a Precision Wellness Massage because I will use some deep tissue treatment and a mix of other approaches. However, it is still quite good for general relaxation, reducing anxiety and relieving pain.
What do I do After a Massage?
Another common question I get is about massage ‘aftercare’ and I’ve written an in-depth post about this here Massage Aftercare.

there is a land i belong to
inside my mind
a land for the dreamers
